- Shift/Hours: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, rotating 2-week schedule (Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat / Week 2: Sun, Wed, Thu)
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Technician supports daily operations and technical guidance in a biopharmaceutical production environment. This role ensures departmental objectives are achieved through process execution, compliance, and improvements. Responsibilities include operating manufacturing systems, troubleshooting, training staff, and supporting process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Cover floor operations in supervisor’s absence; provide status updates
- Assist supervisors in maintaining workflow and performance management
- Provide training for new hires and ensure knowledge transfer
- Lead by example with safe, accurate, and compliant operations
- Participate in process improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA)
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues; conduct root cause analysis
- Operate manufacturing systems: reactors, centrifuges, dryers, ion exchange columns, and DCS systems
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas; report hazards
- Interact with customers professionally as required
- Ensure high-quality documentation and communication
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or related field, with 1–2 years production experience OR Associate degree with 5+ years in large-scale chemical manufacturing
- Minimum 1+ year of production experience
Nice-to-Have Experience
- 2–3 years in a manufacturing or chemical production environment
- Experience in customer-facing production support
Required Skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to operate powered industrial equipment safely
- Knowledge of product flow and manufacturing operations
- Professional communication with all levels of staff
Preferred Skills
- SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access proficiency
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or PDSA methods
- Strong problem-solving and team-building skills
Additional Skills
- Ability to lift 55 lbs. and move 300+ lbs. with assistance
- Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts, nights, and weekends
- Experience working in regulated environments with PPE (respirators, protective suits)
