Overview

Custodian VI role with boiler license required. Regular twelve-month position; Monday - Friday; eight hours/day; 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Benefited position with paid insurance, vacation/sick leave, and retirement eligibility.

General duties

• Performs as working supervisor of a custodial operation.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety of buildings, sidewalks, driveways, and playgrounds; sweeps and cleans classrooms daily; cleans corridors; scrubs and disinfects toilet rooms; manages daily opening/locking of buildings; maintains boilers, furnaces, and other building equipment.
• Has knowledge of painting, and general repairs to plumbing, electrical, and other maintenance.
• Assumes responsibility for general security and performs emergency cleaning and maintenance as needed.
• Regulates building temperature; washes exterior windows at least twice per year; performs yard work as required.
• Reports damages, emergencies, repair requests, supply requests, and personnel issues to the administrator; maintains records of service to mechanical equipment.
• Remains on site during duty hours and as required by state boiler regulations for licensed operator attendance; oversees training, supervision, follow-up checks, payroll, substitutes, and related records for custodial staff.
• Performs other related work as required.

Minimum requirements

• Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and supplies; effective supervision methods.
• Abilities: Ability to plan, schedule, and supervise work; establish and maintain supervisory and work relationships; communicate effectively; interact with the public.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: One year of custodial experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; boiler license required to apply.
