Division of Facilities Management - Northern Division
The Division of Facilities Management is a customer-driven support organization responsible for providing facilities management services to all CDHS agencies and offices. These services include the maintenance of building and grounds, custodial, capital construction (budgeting and contract management), utilities management, vehicle fleet management, building space leasing allocation, and facilities planning services. This is accomplished through a centralized statewide team that is divided into three districts and a central office. By combining our expert professional extensive facilities knowledge and strong commitment to reliable, responsive service, we enable our clients to achieve consistently high performance facilities, and long-term value. Our goal is to be an organization that meets customer expectations 100% of the time. The facilities managed by the Division of Facilities Management (DFM) include 1,400 acres of land and 349 buildings comprising 3.8 million square feet.
Facilities served: Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan (CMHHFL), Department of Human Services (DHS) (1575 Sherman St.), Wheat Ridge Regional Center (WRRC to include the group homes) and Division of Youth Services (DYS) facilities (Prairie Vista, Gilliam, Lookout Mountain Campus, Marvin W. Foote, Mount View Campus and Platte Valley.) Provides as needed support to the Veterans Community Living Center located in the district. Total facilities are approximately 1.9 million sq. ft. at multiple sites within the Northern Region.
This unit exists to perform Housekeeping and Custodial services to assure that the facilities and client environments are cleaned and maintained according to all applicable regulatory standards, and provides a safe sanitary environment for clients and staff. Meet the facilities needs of the Department of Human Services Northern Region customers while managing available resources to provide a physical environment at the highest quality possible. Additionally, the unit establishes and maintains a pleasant, safe, and sanitary environment for clients, personnel and visitors in the buildings of the Department of Human Services.
This position is unique in that it provides Custodial Services for a wide range of agencies within the Department of Human Services which includes the Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan (CMHHFL), Department of Human Services (DHS) (1575 Sherman St.), Wheat Ridge Regional Center (WRRC to include the group homes) and Division of Youth Services (DYS) facilities (Prairie Vista, Gilliam, Lookout Mountain Campus, Marvin W. Foote, Mount View Campus and Platte Valley).
Regulatory requirements: The position is required to meet and maintain all regulatory requirements set by JCAHO (Joint Commission for Accrediting Health Organizations) and the Colorado Department of Public Health and other regulatory agencies.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Performs daily cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing of assigned work area as per schedules and procedures using appropriate disinfectant cleaners and equipment (sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and other duties).
- Performs daily detail cleaning of assigned area (washing walls, doors, frames, sills, windows, baseboards, fixtures, furnishings, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures).
- Performs weekly project work within all areas including hard floor and carpet areas.
- Performs project floor work including buffing, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, sealing of hard floors, and carpet spot cleaning/shampooing/extracting.
- Collects and disposes of trash and biohazard waste following proper containment and disposal procedures.
- Assists in moving desks, chairs, and other furniture to conduct project floor work; participates in moving equipment as needed.
- Cleans and services equipment, maintains janitorial closet, stocks supplies, and manages chemical labeling requirements.
- Snow removal when required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time, in-person, essential position that may require responding to callbacks after hours to perform essential and/or emergency services in a timely manner. Shift work may be required and this position is eligible for shift differential.
Essential Positions: Positions that perform essential law enforcement, highway maintenance, and other support services directly necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of patients, residents, and inmates of state institutions or state facilities. Employees in essential positions can be non-exempt under FLSA and may be required to work unusual hours to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay or interruption.
Call Back applies when an eligible employee is required to report to work before the start or after the end of a scheduled shift. If there is no release from work between call back hours and the regular shift, it is considered a continuation of the shift. When call back applies, a minimum of two hours of the employee’s regular base pay is guaranteed. Eligible employees are those who are eligible for overtime, and any call back time is counted as work time.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have at least three months of cleaning experience. Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40 hours per week). Part-time employment is prorated. Preferred Qualifications and Competencies
- Experience cleaning and maintaining facilities such as schools, colleges, hospitals, long-term care facilities, mental health institutes or correctional institutions.
- Experience sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, and performing general dusting and vacuuming within similar facilities.
- Possession of a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License.
Conditions of Employment
- A full pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process as this position is deemed to have direct contact with vulnerable persons. Felony convictions, convictions of crimes of moral turpitude, or misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you. Provide disposition of any charges if applicable.
- Must be willing to submit and pass a full background check.
- Travel may be required for training and meetings.
- Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a medical or religious exemption.
- Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Must be available for call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
- Must be available for shift work and able to work varying hours for coverage, weather issues, and essential/emergency services outside normal hours.
- Hazardous materials exposure: proximity to moving parts, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to electrical shock, or working in high exposed places.
Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose information and provide explanations and prior state employee numbers if applicable. Absent extraordinary circumstances, these factors may disqualify from future state employment.
