LC State invites applications for the position of Instructor of Welding Technology.
Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $62,000
Required Qualifications:
- 8 years of current experience in progressive welding, with experience in all phases of manual and semi-automatic welding processes; OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college/university in Welding or Trade Union Journeyman Welding Education with 5 years of progressive welding experience; OR
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college/university, plus 3 years of progressive welding experience in all phases of manual and semi-automatic welding processes. - Must obtain Certified Welding Inspector and Certified Welding Educator certifications within 15 months of hire.
- Must be knowledgeable of metallurgy, print reading, power sources, safety, thermal cutting processes, welding theory, and welding codes.
- Must be current on AWSD1.1 Structural Steel Welding Qualification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Experience in all phases of manual and semi-automatic welding processes, a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited college/university, and experience in utilizing code-based welding in industrial shops or outside construction, as well as knowledge of welding specification documents and quality control procedures.
- Experience in GTAW pipe/tube and SMAW pipe uphill and downhill is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Instruct and supervise students in the Welding Technology program. Develop, plan, implement, and revise programs and courses, curriculum, and lesson plans. Evaluate student progress in attaining goals and objectives. Maintain lab equipment and program/personal certification requirements; attend faculty and educational meetings. Assist in recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts as well as ensuring safety and security for the program. Work with the program's advisory committee, industry representatives, and employers to facilitate job and internship opportunities. Operate and maintain program budget, contribute to college-wide goals and activities by serving on committees and other institutional activities. Applicants are required to complete CTE teacher training courses for Idaho Teaching Certification.
Applicants must be willing to consider non-traditional teaching styles and times, such as online, hybrid, and evening or weekend classes. Expectations for this faculty member would be to teach classes to expand cohort options, such as 12-13 hours on Friday, 12-13 hours on Saturday, with additional hours on Thursday evening and/or Monday.
Qualified applicants will be required to complete weld tests.
Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
