Job Summary
Youth Sports Scorekeepers are responsible for player attendance, recording game statistics, and managing the game clock during Youth Sports events (Grades 1st - 8th). Prior knowledge of the assigned sport is desired but not required. Applicants must be available on Saturdays, with some weekday opportunities. Pay rates are determined by the grade level assigned to score keep. Hours depend on team registrations.
The Youth Sports Office is currently hiring Scorekeepers for the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. Training will be provided.
Position Summary
- Manage time and scorekeeping for Youth Sports events.
- Track statistical data such as running score, fouls, etc., using official score books or sheets.
- Record scores, time, possession, etc., on electronic clocks or flip charts.
- Enforce game rules per WIAA and MPS Youth Sports guidelines.
- Alert officials to score or foul questions.
- Model positive language and behavior.
- Maintain professionalism in appearance and conduct.
- Assist with pre-game and post-game activities.
- Follow all policies and rules of Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation.
- Understand and follow the Part-Time Employee Manual.
- Be physically capable of setting up and breaking down sites.
- Attend mandatory training sessions.
- Maintain a safe, organized environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision Required
Work under the guidance of the Youth Sports Supervisor and Building/League Director at the assigned site.
Job Requirements
- Proper attire with Scorekeeper Uniform.
- Basic math skills.
- Knowledge of scorekeeping or the rules of the assigned sport.
- Ability to meet scheduling needs.
- Professional behavior and appearance.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to attend all mandatory trainings.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with diverse populations in public settings.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certifications (training provided if needed).
- Experience in scorekeeping and game stats for the assigned sport.

- Knowledge of sport-specific rules and regulations.

Working Environment
This role involves walking, climbing, standing for long periods, and exposure to loud noises in gym environments. Staff will supervise groups and assist in accommodating individuals with disabilities as trained.
