Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: Instructs and coaches participants in youth sports programs. The ability to coach basketball is preferred.

General Work Schedule

General Work Schedule: 10 to 15 hours per week. Must be available to work weeknights and Saturdays.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitates youth sports program activities according to the plan and schedule.
  • Responsible for the setup and breakdown of the program area and for the maintenance and control of supplies and equipment.
  • Ensures effective communication with participants, parents, staff, and volunteers.
  • Provides a safe environment for participants and enforces safety rules. Responds to accidents and follows protocol to treat injuries.
  • Follows department protocol to clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of program/work areas.
  • Responds professionally to problems and complaints. Identifies solutions and resolves problems.
  • Attends and participates in required staff meetings and trainings sessions.
  • Completes additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Knowledge and experience in the appropriate sports skills.
  • Ability to lead and supervise youth groups.
