Location: North Charleston, SC

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the employee will be responsible for the preparation of child support cases for Family Court; perform activities in the courtroom under the supervision of DSS attorneys; follow up on these cases (including parent locate and processing of interstate cases); and provide general child support services to clients as required or needed.

Job Duties

  • Communication with other units within the Office of Integrated Child Support Services and other components within the Department of Social Services; add support order data to the IVD system, and add financial information to ensure distribution of collections.
  • Maintain case records and narrative documentation (written and electronic) in the agency-designated system; manage assigned caseload and contribute to solving problems within the child support system (e.g., service of process and scheduling of cases).
  • Refer appropriate non-custodial parents to the SNAP Employment and Training program; interpret child support services programs to clients, the general public, and the community; provide services in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
  • Conduct interviews with custodial parents for paternity cases, interstate support cases, and other cases as necessary; protect personally identifying information (PII) and safeguard agency networks and data; perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: High School or Equivalent with relative program experience. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for program experience.
  • Work Experience: 1+ years

Job Knowledge and Abilities

Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures and the ability to apply them in varied situations.

Essential Personnel Level

Normal operations. Required to follow emergency facility closure directives and is not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.

Job Details

  • Location: North Charleston, SC
  • Work Schedule: Standard hours 37.5 per week
  • Compensation: Base pay range $33,339.00 - $36,000.00 per year; salary may depend on experience and qualifications
