City of New Berlin is hiring: Adult Fitness Instructor in New Berlin

Overview

Under the direction of the New Berlin Recreation Department, responsible for leading a group of participants through a series of movements and adapted exercises set to music while inspiring and motivating them to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.

Responsibilities

• Works under the direction of the Recreation Department
• Plans, coordinates, promotes, and facilitates a weekly Fitness class accompanied by appropriate music for the participants
• Ensures the safety of class participants by adhering to Departmental policies and procedures
• Maintains class records in regards to attendance, accidents, and incident reports
• Provides on-site leadership on the actual class dates
• Works in coordination with the Recreation Department to establish a budget sheet and proposed expenditure document
• Assists with the set-up and clean-up of the activity room and any other spaces that will be utilized to facilitate activities
• Positively communicates with the participants and encourages them to improve their health and fitness related behaviors
• Maintains consistent and courteous communication with Supervisors within the Recreation Department
• Duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Must be at least 21 years of age or older
• Must have previous experience instructing group exercise and fitness/wellness programs
• Available to work fluctuating hours and specifically the dates/times agreed upon with the Recreation Department and Supervisor
• Ability to make well-informed decisions in time-sensitive situations
• Knowledge of appropriate teaching techniques
• Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors within the Recreation Department
