Required Qualifications
- One year of recent CNA experience
- Valid CNA registration in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) or CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Other certifications may be required depending on facility requirements
Summary
A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care and supports patients with daily needs. They assist with bathing, dressing, mobility, and monitoring patient conditions in collaboration with nursing staff.
Essential Work Functions
- Record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration)
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
- Provide mobility assistance (repositioning, transfers, ambulation)
- Assist with feeding and meal support
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
- Offer emotional support and companionship to patients and families
- Document patient care and observations accurately and timely
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and healthcare regulations
- Perform other duties within the scope of practice
Required Essential Skills
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
- English reading, writing, and speaking proficiency
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; proficient in PC skills
- Physical ability to remain stationary and move equipment (50-100 lbs), push/pull, and bend
- Collaborative teamwork with diverse healthcare personnel
- Technical/motor skills for procedures and equipment operation
- Mental ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage irregular schedules
- Sensory - visual acuity and effective communication
