Key responsibilities of a CNA in a nursing home:
· Personal care:
Assisting residents with bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, and toileting.
· Mobility assistance:
Helping residents with transferring between bed, chair, and wheelchair, using proper lifting techniques.
· Mealtime support:
Serving meals, assisting with feeding, and ensuring residents are eating adequately.
· Vital signs monitoring:
Taking and recording residents' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate.
· Patient observation:
Reporting any changes in resident's condition, including mood, behavior, skin integrity, and vital signs to the nurse.
· Basic wound care:
Performing simple wound care procedures as directed by the nurse.
· Documentation:
Accurately recording resident care activities and observations in medical records.
· Infection control:
Practicing proper hand hygiene and following infection control protocols to prevent the spread of germs.
· Communication:
Maintaining open communication with residents, families, and other healthcare team members.
