Job Title: Harness Design Engineer Job Description
Seeking an engineer to develop electrical wiring interconnect systems (EWIS) and wire harness designs for spacecraft. Responsibilities include creating schematics, 3D/2D drawings, and technical documentation using CAD tools such as AutoCAD or CREO. The role involves component selection and participation in design reviews for both flight harnesses and EGSE harnessing for spaceflight missions.
Responsibilities
Develop electrical wiring interconnect systems (EWIS) and wire harness designs for spacecraft.
Create schematics, 3D/2D drawings, and technical documentation using CAD tools like AutoCAD or CREO.
Participate in component selection and design reviews for flight and EGSE harnessing.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and adhere to aerospace standards like Mil-Aerospace or NASA.
Produce technical documentation, wire lists, ICDs, and reports to support fabrication, integration, and testing.
Work with other engineers to create manufacturing documentation for cable, crimp, soldering, and harness build efforts.
Complete electronics/avionics integration.
Essential Skills
Experience in wire harness design for spaceflight harness applications.
Proficiency in using CAD for schematics and wire harness routing.
Experience overseeing harness design efforts from vendors or other engineers.
Familiarity with soldering, harness design, cable assembly, and crimping.
Experience with tools such as Creo, AutoCAD, or ORCAD.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline in electronics.
5-10 years of relevant experience, including significant experience with flight harnesses for spaceflight, spacecraft, or satellite applications.
Knowledge of spaceflight hardware requirements for testing and integration.
Understanding of spaceflight hardware EGSE systems.
Work Environment
The position is based in an office environment. The company is growing, offering potential opportunities for advancement. Working on projects with the NRL could eventually lead to obtaining a clearance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bethesda, Maryland.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr.
