Phlebotomist Job at CSL Plasma in Temple

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
2. Perform all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, monitoring, and disconnect, in compliance with SOPs.
3. Perform venipuncture on donors to initiate the pheresis process, adhering to SOPs and FDA guidelines.
4. Evaluate vein performance, identify potential issues, and make necessary adjustments to ensure donor safety, product quality, and a positive donation experience.
5. Educate new donors about therapeutic plasma products, screening, health tests, appointment system, fees, policies, nutrition, and address donor questions professionally.
6. Monitor donors for reactions, assist with reactions if needed, and notify staff accordingly.
7. Use PDA to record incidents such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and adverse events.
8. Perform calibrations, verify maintenance, troubleshoot equipment failures, and document incidents.
9. Monitor donor flow, alert supervisors of flow issues, and ensure continuous donor turnover.
10. Collect arm or whole blood samples for testing.
11. Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system per SOPs.
12. Understand policies related to hyperimmune programs if applicable.
13. Maintain a clean work environment, ensure supplies are available, and follow HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety.
14. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
15. May be cross-trained in other areas; bilingual skills may be required.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 12 months experience in a medical or healthcare environment preferred, or equivalent education/experience.
• For California centers: Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or current RN license required; responsibilities may vary based on local laws.
