Network & Server Administrator
for a client located in Houston, TX to join our team. This is a
contract-to-hire
opportunity with a
hybrid schedule
(2 days in-office, 3 days remote).
Pay:
$28.85/hour ($60,000 annually)
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week
Summary:
Responsible for managing and supporting network and server infrastructure across multiple client environments. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a customer-first mindset. The ideal candidate will be able to explain complex IT concepts in simple terms and deliver outstanding service to clients.
Responsibilities:
Deploy, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including firewalls, switches, wireless systems, and VPNs Monitor network performance and troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues Implement firewall rules, VLANs, and remote access solutions Document network setups and perform assessments during client onboarding Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, file/print services) Support virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and VMware Manage user access, Group Policies, and domain security permissions Perform patching, backups, and system updates Assist with server migrations, cloud transitions, and infrastructure upgrades Collaborate with support and project teams on escalations and client initiatives Provide clear, simple explanations of technical issues to clients and internal teams Maintain accurate documentation and follow best practices for security and compliance Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in network and server administration (MSP or multi-client environment preferred) Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs, and Active Directory Experience with firewalls (Fortinet, Cisco, SonicWall), switches, and wireless infrastructure Proficiency in Windows Server and virtualization platforms Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills Ability to manage multiple client networks independently Strong communication skills and ability to simplify technical concepts for non-technical users Must have a clean background (no theft-related offenses) due to access to sensitive credentials Preferred Skills & Certifications:
CompTIA Network+, Server+, Microsoft, CCNA, Fortinet NSE Experience with RMM/PSA tools (ConnectWise, Datto) Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and cloud infrastructure Exposure to compliance-driven environments (HIPAA, PCI)
