Job Description:
Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads - both students and employers - for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCC's institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
The Director of Nursing for Workforce is responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing non-credit open enrollment Nursing training programs that prepare candidates to meet the workforce demands of local healthcare employers and transition into nursing pathway programs. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Professional Development Solutions, the Director plays a key role in conducting business needs assessments, identifying training opportunities, establishing and providing oversite for Nursing pathway program and submitting course proposals for approval by Workforce Solutions.
Functional Responsibilities:
Develop and coordinate the Externship program and clinical placement including securing new sites, coordinating the programs, and communicating with students regarding placement opportunity and requirements. Coordinate Instructor site visits. Establish and maintain contact with employers in the healthcare sector to identify industry training needs and training opportunities; identify TCC resources to meet these needs and develop appropriate training proposals. Provide support, evaluation and direction to adjunct instructors. Develop, organize, and manage all facets of Workforce healthcare Nursing pathway training programs for students and corporate partners throughout the Hampton Roads area. Provide leadership for the program, including development and implementation of curriculum, course content, and supervision of course operations, applying knowledge of the healthcare industry and development methods using knowledge of current trends, critical topics, and changing laws and regulations in healthcare. Collaborate with appropriate faculty and consultants to assist with curriculum development and delivery of coursework to meet the specific needs of the students and agencies served. Collaborate with instructors on the development of course content to ensure consistency with the appropriate credentialing bodies and core competencies. Review instructor course outlines and educational materials to ensure consistency with program/course goals and make recommendations to enhance course delivery Ensure all courses meet applicable standards and requirements of The Virginia Board of Nursing, VCCS, and Tidewater Community College Develop, implement, evaluate program policies, and maintain all program records Develop and implement strategies to increase awareness and enrollment among current and potential students and coordinate efforts with TCC's Marketing Department and web services to include collaboration on development of marketing materials Compile and deliver written reports, oral briefs and make presentations Coordinate with appropriate TCC healthcare department Dean to ensure appropriate program crosswalks following all procedures/policies. Develop and monitor budget for program; authorize and track expenditures Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:
Comprehensive knowledge of and demonstrated ability in managing processes, procedures projects and handle multiple competing tasks. Assist in the support of all Nursing healthcare instructors for the designated programs. Knowledge of training needs in the Nursing healthcare sector as it relates to the local workforce. Demonstrated ability to negotiate, communicate and work effectively with faculty, staff, community, and agency leaders. Ability to oversee processes and procedures for the overall management of the Workforce nursing program. Demonstrated ability to establish cooperative working relationships with a diverse group of individuals and organizations as it relates to healthcare. Ability to make oral and written presentations and to assist with the development of effective training programs and materials. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a highly complex work environment. Excellent organizational skills. Registered nurse who holds a current, unrestricted license in Virginia or a multistate licensure privilege and who has been designated by the controlling authority to administer the nursing education program Additional Considerations:
