Job Title: Senior Controls Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to lead large Web Converting machinery projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the success of all project phases, from order intake to final site acceptance. This role involves attending customer meetings, selecting components, overseeing electrical print package generation, interfacing with Mechanical Engineering, PLC programming, HMI/SCADA programming, process controls, VFD and servo motor configuration, machine testing, and on-site start-up services. Additionally, you will assist in product standardization, software development, and training junior staff.
Responsibilities
Lead large Web Converting machinery projects.
Ensure success in all project phases from order intake to site acceptance.
Attend customer meetings and select components.
Oversee the generation of electrical prints packages.
Interface with Mechanical Engineering for seamless project execution.
Perform PLC programming and HMI/SCADA programming.
Configure VFD and servo motors.
Conduct machine tests and provide on-site start-up services.
Assist in product standardization and software development.
Provide training for junior staff.
Essential Skills
10+ years of experience in PLC programming and software development, particularly with Allen-Bradley GuardLogix.
5+ years of experience in VFD and Servo drive configuration and commissioning.
5+ years of experience with on-site installation and start-up services.
Experience with Machine Operator Safety Standards and generating operator risk assessments.
Expertise in HMI and SCADA development, with Wonderware and FactoryTalk experience being a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of experience with programming and process controls on web converting, web handling, winding, or related technology.
Siemens TIA Portal experience is a plus.
Work Environment
The role offers a flexible work schedule with options for remote or hybrid work. The company is transitioning from a small family business to a larger engineering firm, providing opportunities to incorporate new technology and a diverse range of work. You will work directly with a team of experienced Process Engineers, Sr. Controls Engineers, and Electrical Design Engineers, contributing to programming, process, HMI, and SCADA generation. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
