Overview
Coordinate human resource activities for the facility and aid the Human Resource Manager and HR Dept in programs to support employees. This is a Salary Non-Exempt Position.
Responsibilities
- Support HR Manager in carrying out HR programs and perform diversified clerical and administrative activities. Assists in learning and training programs, including new hire orientation. Input new hire and termination data into the system. Maintain all hourly personnel and confidential files. Track daily attendance of hourly employees. Create and maintain files for newly hired team members. Record changes on employee status as necessary (e.g., change of address, departmental transfers, rate increases, terminations). Process and record information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data; attendance. File paperwork and upload documents associated with Federal programs and mandates. Serve as a point of contact for employees.
- Employee Support. Establish effective working relationships with employees and facility leadership. Maintain confidentiality and integrity in HR activities. Maintain and distribute current employee information, policy and procedure manuals, and other communication. Conduct short orientations to explain benefits.
- Processes information in HRIS Systems. Verify time information from managers and supervisors weekly to ensure proper pay processing. Maintain employee information in HRIS. Follow up with managers to ensure accuracy of attendance records. Perform data entry in HRIS systems.
- Assists in general HR responsibilities for the facility, staffing, and support. Maintain appropriate staffing levels and assist in employment activities, including support for job bid processes, processing employment applications, requisition management, hiring and transfers, interviewing, and directing the new hire process when needed.
- Participates as a member of the Team. Contributes to development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to align with best practices. Attends team meetings and supports team cohesiveness on major issues, identifies areas lacking cohesion, communicates concerns, and helps resolve issues to achieve synergy.
- Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Familiar with Simmons’ operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understand the role of this position in supporting these systems, including communicating concerns and ideas for improvement.

Physical & Travel Requirements
- Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer; visually verifies information; communicates with customers, vendors, or employees by phone, in person, and/or email; may present information to groups; must be able to work in various temperatures; may move about in a manufacturing environment and surrounding property.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by the facility.
- Travel: Travels domestically to and from multiple facilities or work-sites.
Qualifications
- Technical Experience: 1 year experience in human resources; thorough understanding of HR policies and laws; proficient use of Microsoft Suite.
- Industry Experience: Preference for food processing organization.
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in HR Development, Organization Development, Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, IO Psychology or related degrees; SPHR Certification.
