Foster Coordinator Intern (Unpaid, Virtual)
Location: Remote (Ohio-based preferred, open to all)
Commitment: Approx. 25 hours/week
Are you passionate about animal welfare and skilled at managing relationships and logistics? Fairytales Tiny Tails Rescue is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Foster Coordinator Intern to manage our network of foster homes. This volunteer leadership role will help ensure our vulnerable kittens and small animals receive the loving care they need while waiting for their forever homes. We’re a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating tiny tails who deserve second chances, and foster families are at the heart of our mission.
Role Description
As the Foster Coordinator Intern, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting foster volunteers. You’ll manage foster placements, track animals’ progress, and act as the key communication link between fosters and the rescue team. This internship is eligible for college credit and offers hands-on experience in animal rescue coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Recruit and onboard new foster volunteers
Train and support foster families throughout the fostering process
Coordinate foster placements and ensure animals are matched appropriately
Maintain detailed records of foster animals and foster homes
Communicate regularly with fosters to monitor animal wellbeing and address concerns
Collaborate with rescue leadership on foster-related logistics and needs
Qualifications
Strong organizational and communication skills
Compassionate, patient, and able to support volunteers
Self-motivated and able to work independently remotely
Comfortable with Google Workspace tools and email communication
Passionate about animal welfare and fostering
Previous experience with fostering or animal care is a plus but not required
