Quick Overview: Community Literature Initiative (CLI) seeks a web developer to help with our website. You will oversee the functionality of the website, evaluate and manage website performance, facilitate hosting and server management, and develop, maintain and update website content. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in a growing nonprofit organization.
Mission: CLI is a small Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization that is dedicated to uplifting the voices of people in marginalized communities by providing accessible poetry and literature resources. Within CLI, the Sims Library of Poetry aims to engage with the South L.A. community by offering a space to read, write, study, perform, and appreciate poetry. And World Stage Press (WSP) is an independent publishing press that edits, designs, and publishes local manuscripts. WSP oversees and manages full-cycle book production, publishing, and local distribution.
Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities:
Manage, monitor, and upgrade Community Literature Initiative's Website (which includes the World Stage Press and Sims Library of Poetry sites as well).
Improve the User Experience of the website regularly.
Collaborate with staff and management to ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy and meets the organization's standards.
Ensure full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations.
Respond to and troubleshoot all website issues.
Requirements:
At least 1-2 years of work experience as a website manager.
Knowledge of Macromedia suite, Adobe suite, Content Management Systems and W3C Web standards.
Proficient in Wordpress 5.4.2 and older versions, Site Optimization (Increasing Bandwith, obtaining and management of an SSL certificate (HTTPS), and Caching (W3 Total Cache, WP Rocket, etc.).
Experience in HTML, XHTML, CSS design, cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, firewalls (functionality and maintenance), Access, mySQL and JavaScript.
Understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Paid Per Click (PPC).
Ability to troubleshoot website issues.

Working location: Virtual
Hours: Mornings, preferably 9AM-1PM; 8-10 hours a week
