Custodian Job at Forsyth County in Winston-Salem

Overview

Forsyth County has a great opportunity to work at Tanglewood Park. The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a motivated employee to fill an open part-time, year-round Custodian position. The employee must be a self-starter and able to work independently and with others.

This position will assist with the set up, clean up, and dismantling of events at the Red Barn, Walnut Hall, Clubhouse and for keeping all assigned offices, restrooms, common areas, kitchens, and meeting rooms in a neat and orderly fashion. The duties include normal custodial work such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning restrooms, setting up tables and chairs for events, trash removal, and some office cleaning. The employee may also assist with maintaining public picnic shelters, cleaning public restrooms, replenishing supplies, and trash removal in indoor and outdoor event areas.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain offices, restrooms, event facilities, and common areas to ensure they are neat, orderly, and safe for park guests and employees.
• Perform custodial tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom cleaning.
• Set up and dismantle tables and chairs for events in various facilities.
• Remove trash and litter; assist with upkeep of picnic shelters and outdoor event areas.
• Follow cleaning schedules and report needs for supplies in a timely manner.
• Maintain positive customer service and effective communication with staff and the public.

Schedule

• April–October: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 am – 11:30 am
• November–March: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 am – 12:30 pm
• May be required to work weekends and holidays

Qualifications and Requirements

• Working knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment used in custodial work.
• Ability to operate custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet sweepers, and speed buffing machines.
• Ability to follow cleaning schedules and routines for periodic cleaning of facilities.
• Ability to observe and report needs for supplies in a timely manner.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and excellent customer service skills; able to communicate well with the public.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Six months of custodial experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
