Overview
Dental Hygienist role at Southeastern Michigan Health Association (SEMHA) – Hamtramck, MI.
LOCATION: Wayne County Healthy Communities Clinic, Hamtramck MI 48212.
POSITION SUMMARY: SEMHA is seeking a Dental Hygienist to work at the Wayne County Healthy Communities Clinic in Hamtramck. We welcome both new graduates and experienced hygienists to join a supportive clinical environment dedicated to quality, compassionate care.
Essential Functions
- Provide preventive dental care, including cleanings, sealants, and fluoride treatments.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, proper brushing and flossing techniques, and nutrition for dental health.
- Take and develop dental radiographs as needed.
- Work collaboratively with dentists and support staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
- Participate in Michigan’s Kindergarten Oral Health Assessment (KOHA) Program by providing screenings and oral health education to young children, both in the clinic and through outreach activities at schools and community locations.
- Deliver preventive dental care services to patients under Public Dental Prevention Program PA 161.
Education & Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Active state dental hygienist license (RDH). Required
- Current CPR Certification. Required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Commitment to promoting oral health and preventative care.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, community-focused setting.
Work Environment
- Primarily in schools, mobile dental units, and community health centers.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours for outreach events may be required.
- Moderate travel to various locations within the community or region.

Salary
$75,000 - $90,000 (based on qualification & experience)
