Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced

ServiceNow CMDB Consultant / Expert

to act as a strategic advisor and hands-on SME to advance our Configuration Management Database (CMDB) program. This role will partner with leadership and technical teams to ensure the CMDB is accurate, audit-ready, and tightly aligned with ITIL/ITSM best practices and business goals. The consultant will drive CMDB design, governance, integrations, and long-term maturity while mentoring internal resources for sustainable success.

Key Responsibilities Serve as the

CMDB Subject Matter Expert

, providing guidance and strategy to leadership and technical teams. Lead optimization of

ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and CMDB structure

to improve accuracy and visibility. Establish and enforce

CMDB governance frameworks, reconciliation processes, and data quality standards

. Develop and maintain a

CMDB maturity roadmap

aligned with organizational objectives. Define and maintain

CI classes, attributes, and relationships

for consistency and scalability. Drive

integrations across ITSM/ITOM processes

(Incident, Change, Problem, Asset) and external systems. Conduct

CMDB health checks, audits, and maturity assessments

, delivering actionable recommendations. Mentor and guide internal teams, uplifting CMDB and Discovery practices. Prepare

process documentation, playbooks, and training materials

to ensure sustainable adoption. Act as a

trusted advisor to stakeholders

, translating CMDB improvements into measurable business outcomes. Qualifications

10+ years

of ITSM/ITOM experience, with

7+ years of hands-on ServiceNow CMDB & Discovery expertise

. Proven success in

designing, implementing, and maturing ServiceNow CMDB

in large enterprises. Strong expertise in

ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and CSDM (Common Service Data Model)

. In-depth knowledge of

ITIL practices

, especially Configuration Management. Hands-on experience with

CI data modeling, reconciliation, and integrations

across ITSM/ITOM modules. Excellent communication skills, able to engage

executive stakeholders and technical teams

. Preferred Certifications:

ServiceNow CIS-CMDB, ITSM, ITOM, Discovery. Prior

consulting or public sector experience
