TRUMPF is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineering Intern to join our Farmington, CT team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in optimizing CAD workflows and contributing to the efficiency of our design process. You will play a key role in developing and standardizing SolidWorks templates, libraries, and automation tools, directly impacting the productivity of our engineering team. This role is ideal for current college students who are eager to apply their SolidWorks skills in a real-world engineering environment.

The Internship will be from January 2026 to August 2026 for at least 32 hours a week

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

:

Develop and optimize SolidWorks part, assembly, and drawing templates to streamline the design process. Standardize title blocks, dimensioning styles, materials, and custom properties for consistency across all designs. Create and manage design libraries, configurations, and macros to improve productivity and reduce design time. Assist in automating repetitive design tasks using SolidWorks API or design tables. Work closely with engineers to identify bottlenecks in current CAD workflows and propose template-based solutions. Contribute to the implementation of best practices for SolidWorks usage. Ensure all templates comply with industry standards (e.g., ASME, ISO) and company design requirements. Document best practices for template usage and create training resources for the engineering team. Support general CAD modeling and drafting tasks as needed, providing valuable assistance to the engineering team. Qualifications:

Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, technical drawings). Experience in creating and managing SolidWorks templates for improved workflow efficiency. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T standards. Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Education:

Must be a student enrolled in accredited university or institution pursuing an undergraduate degree in related filed.
