General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practices safe behaviors on the sales floor.
  • Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet Customers and recognize fellow Associates.
  • Assist Customers; be register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions, greet with eye contact and a smile, and thank customers at checkout.
  • Provide prompt and courteous responses; respond to service calls and involve Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks to maintain merchandise and areas; replenish restroom supplies and disinfect high-touch areas.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and follow presentation guidelines.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies and proper disposal processes with Store Leadership approval.
  • Handle cash, checks, charge transactions and refunds with accuracy.
  • Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and follow Store best practices.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

Ability to use store equipment; stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time; bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds; use janitorial equipment and ladders.
