Position Summary We are looking for a reliable and organized
Operations Coordinator
to assist with the management of daily logistics and activities. In this position, you will contribute in an administrative capacity by assisting our teams on projects, organizing company events and arranging employee training sessions.
Ultimately, you will work in a support role and oversee many administrative tasks as needed.
This role pays an hourly rate of $35.00 to $37.50

Santa Clara Convention Center
is proudly owned by The City of Santa Clara and managed by Oak View Group. We are strategically located in the heart of Silicon Valley, a prime location for conventions, trade shows and exhibitions. The Santa Clara Convention Center is minutes from hotels, restaurants, Levi’s Stadium, California’s Great America Theme Park, and many of the largest and most influential technology companies in the world, with easy access to freeways and Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport and only 45 miles south of San Francisco. The Convention Center features 100,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 22,400 square foot ballroom, 31 breakout rooms and a 607-seat theater and attracts over 350,000 visitors annually. The facility is an integral economic component of Santa Clara, generating economic benefits through attendee direct and indirect spending and sustaining over 500 local jobs.
Responsibilities
Assists in hiring, training, and scheduling of changeover staff.
Ensure staff complies with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Responsible to understand, comply with and execute parameters of Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Assists in maintaining an accurate record keeping system for hazardous materials.
Performs day-to-day building operations and maintenance as needed.
Review and understand event documents to forecast staffing and equipment needs for all Convention events by coordinating event logistics and changeovers as assigned.
Provide team support as required.
Inspects building routinely to determine need for cleaning and/or maintenance not uncovered by regular efforts or deferred maintenance program.
Prepares reports of routine or preventative maintenance.
Maintains departmental equipment; notify Operations Manager when repairs are needed in Engineering and Building Services.
Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients to provide a positive employee atmosphere.
Assist Operation/Hygiene Manager, Director of Events, and General Manager with projects as requested.
Provides procurement for supplies and maintenance for department.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Two (2) or more years’ experience in an operations position in an arena, convention center, public assembly facility or similar location; with knowledge of set up/housekeeping and event coordination
An advanced degree in Facility Management or related field may be substituted for years of experience
Basic computer skills in a Windows format including typing, data entry and email
Advanced computer skills and experience with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, preferred
Knowledge in Coupa a plus.
Ability to follow instructions, interpret floor plans and event orders
Knowledge of OSHA standards / requirements
Forklift certification or ability to acquire within 90 days of employment
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
Self-motivated and excellent organizational skills
Possession of a valid Driver’s License preferred
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to work long hours including a varied schedule of days, nights, weekends and holidays
