The Licensed Preschool Director

Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering access to licensed childcare and a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes, and activities. In this role, the Licensed Preschool Director is responsible for developing, implementing and managing all preschool programming for ages 3-5 years old. The director is responsible for creating and supporting a fun, safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for program participants and staff. The director establishes and strengthens positive relationships with families, participants, and ARC/SPR staff and will be the main point of contact for Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) staff.Our programs provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play, and grow.
Licensed Preschool Director Responsibilities: Mentors, trains, and coaches staff in the development and implementation of high-quality preschool programming Creates an engaging social and emotional learning environment while providing a developmentally appropriate educational experience for children ages 3-5 years Ensures a ratio of 1:8 (staff to children) is maintained as much as possible to ensure that children are safe and accounted for Licensed Preschool Director Qualifications:
Seattle Preschool Programs (SPP) requires a bachelor's degree or higher, verified as "approved" in MERIT in:
Early Childhood Education (ECE)or a related field, OR abachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college, verified as "approved" in MERIT, AND at least 30 approved ECE quarter credits verified through MERIT. Up to 10 of these may be ECE-School Age hybrid credits.
At least two years of experience working with children ages 3-5 in a preschool setting. Two or more years of experience supporting and implementing curriculum activities for a large group of children. At least two years of supervisory and/or mentorship experience. Starting Pay Range: $28.00 - $31.50/hr Full Pay Range: $28.00-35.00/hr. (Employees in this role can make up to $35.00/hr with additional years of employment.) New hire signing bonus
will be paid out in three (3) installments.
$200 after the successful completion of 30 days of employment $200 after the successful completion of 90days of employment $200 after the successful completion of 120days of employment

Must have a BA in ECE or a BA in another field with a minimum of 47 ECE credits At least 2+ years of experience working in preschool-related programs required Must have 2+ years supervisory and/or mentorship experience Demonstrated experience working with families, community members and partners to foster positive relationships Documentation of current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification, HIV/AIDS blood-borne pathogens education and training, a valid Washington State Food Handlers permit, have cleared a TB test; 30 hours STARS training preferred Valid WA state driver license and clear a driving history record from DOL upon hire Successful completion of WA State and DCYF (Department of Children, Youth and Families) Portable Background Check Certificate Must be 21 years of age or older
