JOB TITLE: Quality Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Quality

REPORTING TO: Quality Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION:

The Quality Engineer position is responsible for planning, executing and finalizing special projects to continuously improve product and process quality as well as quality system improvements and new product introductions. Activities include complaint investigation, inspection, and test method development, implementation of engineering, quality and manufacturing processes, including process validation, supplier quality, and risk management.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

• Performs root cause analysis, corrective and preventative action planning, execution, and verification.

• May assist the Supplier Quality Engineer in supplier qualification and auditing.

• Develops quality plans as required by customer and company requirements

• Develops and performs product inspection and testing.

• Oversees complaint management, complaint trending, and analysis.

• Performs process validation planning and execution, revalidation assessments in accordance with company, regulatory and customer requirements

• May coordinate equipment and facilities calibration and preventive maintenance.

• Implements and trends manufacturing and quality system indicators (e.g., SPC, scrap trending, etc.)

• Performs internal audits, as needed.

• Identifies and coordinates with the Quality manager for Quality System Improvements.

• Resolves Exception issues identified by production and inspection by verifying customer requirements and other needed documentation. Exception outcomes will be documented per company policy. This includes participation in the Material Review Board (MRB) in accordance with non-conforming product policy.

• Maintains records in accordance with company policy, customer requirements and regulatory requirements.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or GED.

• At least five years of previous job-related experience in customized automation, robotics, or precision machining.

• At least five years of previous job-related experience in manufacturing.

• Print Reading / Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Problem solving and troubleshooting.

• Working within and/or establishing quality systems as required by AS9100, ISO9001, ISO13485, FDA, etc.

• Time Management.

• Must possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal as well as interpersonal skills.

• Must be detail-oriented.

• Self-Starting able to coordinate maintaining of systems and to-do lists while maintaining flexibility for the fast-paced environment. (Project Management skills).

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, ASQ Greenbelt or equivalent

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent related job experience. Advance technical or management degree a plus.

• 10+ years of experience in a technical role in manufacturing with five being in a precision machining, fabrication, and assembly environment.

• ASME GD&T Technologist or equivalent preferred

• Knowledge of practical application of statistical methods, SPC, Control Plans, and Problem-solving methods, such as 8-D and 5-Why.

• CMM operation experience Preferred

• A strong understanding of raw materials and the manufacturing industry

• Competency in Microsoft Office tools and other computer applications

• Experience with basic inspection hand tools (including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, height gauges with indicators)

• Working knowledge of statistical process control(SPC) and the use of statistical software such as MiniTab

• This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds or Product up to 40 pounds comfortably.
