Metallurgist

JOB TITLE: Metallurgist LOCATION: Greenville, MI REPORTS TO: Value Stream Manager DEPARTMENT: Material Prep JOB SUMMARY: The METALLURGIST is responsible for directing and coordinating sintering, metallurgical, and electrochemical plant activities. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Assures control of material prep and electroplating areas on any technical and quality matters. Develops and implements technical systems in accordance with IATF/TS16949 requirements. Drives Continuous Improvement, as a member or leader of cross functional teams Assists with technical customer concerns relative to material prep and plating. Advises plant management of any technical matters or concerns. Utilizes product/process expertise to advise plant management on technical and quality decisions. Collects and uses data to identify opportunities for improvement. Communicates with the corporate technology team on new product and process development. Uses lean management (TBPS) and constraint management in decision-making. Performs other duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's of Science in Metallurgy, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field. EXPERIENCE: 5 years manufacturing experience preferred in metallurgy and plating. Supervisory experience preferred. Familiarity with material characterization techniques and interpretation. Experience with non-ferrous metallurgy and heat treat.
