Salary Range: $62,397 - $100,460 Purpose of Classification: The purpose of this classification is to perform professional civil engineering tasks in support of capital projects, plan review, and other infrastructure construction and maintenance projects; and the types of projects and work assignments will vary depending upon assigned department. Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Conducts and/or reviews modeling, planning, and engineering studies in support of project analysis and design, and provides technical support during construction; prepares reports detailing the quantitative analysis performed and concluding recommendations; and reviews and verifies engineering calculations and analysis submitted by consultant engineers or internal engineering technicians. Conducts a programming assessment to determine space, infrastructure, facility, and other project requirements; and participates in the development of lists of potential infrastructure improvement projects to be included in the capital investment plan for the program or division. Develops preliminary/final plans and designs using CAD and other engineering/drafting tools; and develops engineering specifications for project construction based on programming assessment, design concepts, fundamental engineering principles, and approved preliminary plan. Coordinates and reviews the work of contracted architects, engineers, city staff, and other project service providers; works with contractors to make all design modifications necessary to conform with regulatory and project requirements; and approves the designs as appropriate. Completes review of civil engineering aspects of all site development plans to ensure compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and standards; evaluates and assess the impact of the proposed project with regards to traffic and transportation, drainage and stormwater runoff, hydrology and hydraulics, flood protection, grading and erosion control, zoning and land use appropriateness, and related issues; and approves plans and issues permits or initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations; and works with developers/engineers to modify plans for conformity. May provide limited direction or oversight to engineering and drafting technicians assigned to a project. Calculates cost estimates and identifies resources needed for projects. Facilitates communication between the owner, project manager, contractors, other governmental agencies, the public, and other interested parties. Provides technical assistance to project managers and contracts officers during the bid phase of project design to help evaluate proposals and make recommendations for awarding the contract. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline required; two years of experience in civil engineering; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Specific License or Certification Required:

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license. Supplemental Information for Vacancy in Watershed Management: Design and construction support for water/wastewater treatment plants, distribution/collection systems, and pump/lift stations Communicating with various internal clients and external stakeholders to deliver designs and documentation to clients Working under the supervision of a Senior Project Engineer, or Principal Project Engineer Ability to work both independently and with a group to complete assignments. Assisting project team members to complete planning, design, and construction phase services on water, wastewater, and reuse infrastructure projects, including piping, pumping, and treatment systems Preparing technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and other project related documents Completing technical evaluations Supporting field investigations and information collection Analyzing data, reviewing technical information, conducting technical evaluations, and assisting with process, material, and equipment selection Assisting with submittal review, responding to contractor information requests, contract document interpretation, and field observation Review consultant/contractor water/wastewater designs Qualifications for Water/Wastewater Engineer: Degree holder in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, Municipal Engineering, and other related majors Minimum 3 years' experience in water/wastewater design. Client-focused and good analytical skills and problem-solving skills. EIT certification desired but not required. Certification as a licensed water/wastewater plant operator is a plus.
