Principal EMPLOYMENT DATE TO BE DETERMINED PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To assist the principal in assessing, analyzing and developing strategies to improve school culture and climate, thus enhancing student moral and achievement. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:
Master's Degree Administrator Certificate SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Exhibit excellent communication (verbal and written), public relations, and interpersonal skills. Possess knowledge and understanding of change process, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills. Possess knowledge and understanding of teaching methodologies and ability to provide assistance and instructional help to teachers requiring assistance. Possess knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures of the MISD. Exhibit excellent organizational skills and consensus building skills. Demonstrate understanding of technology and its importance in the educational process. EXPERIENCE:
Successful experience in the field of public education. Successful experience as a classroom teacher. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Make informed decisions based on campus and district policies and administrative guidelines. Work closely with teachers to insure that students conduct themselves properly while in the classroom and that good teacher-student relationships are maintained. Work closely with other assistant principals, teachers and parents in monitoring student attendance. Deal directly with disciplinary problems which require administrative action and consults with parents when necessary. Make referrals to proper agencies for aid and assistance. Maintain accurate and accessible discipline records. Evaluate teachers assigned by principal and help those teachers develop professional growth plans. Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community. Work with the principal to identify, provide, and evaluate programs and services to meet the needs of all students and staff. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the principal or district staff. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in supervisory capacities assigned by the principal WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands:
Managing simultaneously occurring projects, communicating effectively with all publics, and making effective decisions while maintaining emotional control. Physical demands/environmental factors:
Frequent prolonged and irregular hours that require physical stamina in monitoring student conduct and activities.
