Location:

Raritan, NJ

Compensation:

$38-$42/hour

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 1st Shift (40 hours/week)

Contract Length:

12-month contract with potential for extension

Position Overview

A leading global diagnostics company is seeking an experienced

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

to support daily safety and compliance operations at its Raritan, NJ site. This position plays a key role in implementing safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a proactive safety culture across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Support and reinforce site-wide safety policies and regulatory compliance initiatives Interpret and apply OSHA, EPA, and local safety standards across departments Conduct regular EHS inspections and support incident investigations Lead safety meetings and contribute to ongoing EHS training efforts Manage hazardous and biohazardous waste programs, including vendor coordination and documentation Maintain compliance-related records, training logs, and reporting dashboards Participate in emergency response efforts and develop incident-prevention strategies Monitor and report on environmental metrics such as utility use and waste generation Qualifications Associate degree in Environmental Health, Biology, Chemistry, or related field 2-4 years of experience in EH&S, preferably in a healthcare, biotech, or manufacturing environment Strong understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Preferred certifications: First Aid/CPR, Hazardous Waste Operations Ability to work in varied physical environments, including climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 lbs Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and cross-functionally Work Environment

The role includes a mix of office-based administrative tasks, team collaboration, and on-site safety inspections. Periodic exposure to laboratory and manufacturing settings may be required during safety audits or emergency support.
