Travel Job Description American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro assignment on night shift requiring an active IL license and significant neuro and telemetry skills.
Responsibilities Work in the Medical Surgical - Neuro unit of an acute care hospital Patient population includes neurological and post-surgical cases with an average census of 32 Level II trauma environment and teaching hospital setting Night shifts, either 3x12 or 4x12 hours (18:00–06:30), with every other weekend required Clinicians float within their scope as needed to support unit needs Cerner EMR is used and prior experience is required Expected to provide comprehensive neuro and med/surg care including medication administration (heparin, insulin, PCA) Work within a multidisciplinary team in a Level II trauma, teaching hospital setting Royal blue scrubs required No on-call duties assigned Local candidates accepted Up to 5 days RTO may be considered Parking is provided at no cost with completion of a parking form during orientation
Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of application Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience Certifications required: BLS and NIHSS Experience with telemetry and remote cardiac monitoring required Skills required in rapid response, care of CVA, neuro surgery, spinal cord and brain injury patients Experience with colostomy, feeding tube management, surgical drains, central/PICC/peripheral line care, IV therapy, and blood product administration required Competency with chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, and oxygen therapy required Continuous Bladder Irrigation experience required Wound care and use of wound vac required Cerner charting experience required First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
