Responsibilities
Responsible for counseling and providing academic-related guidance to students progressing toward a degree. Manages undergraduate academic processes in regard to student records, academic standing, and course load as it pertains to progression toward a degree. Maintains effective communication with departments on campus to ensure the accuracy of the student record and timely certification to upper division status. Assists the Associate Dean by working with students needing to drop courses or withdrawal due to personal extenuating circumstances. Counsels and provides guidance to freshmen and sophomore students not formally admitted to their major, giving professional knowledge and advice regarding academic requirements in compliance with the policies of the Division of Undergraduate Studies while documenting decisions regarding registration, drop/add, underloads, overloads, course drops and withdrawals. Works with students to ensure appropriate course registration to comply with general education and university-wide academic requirements. Works with students who have extenuating personal circumstances to explain options available to them and to assist with the process for medical, mental health or personal hardship course drops and withdrawals. Assists students with registration, drop/add, overloads, underloads and regular course drops. Conveys and interprets policy to ensure compliance within the department and with FSU. Assists with the probation and dismissal lists each semester. Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Preferred Qualifications
Customer service experience. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, supervisors, and interdepartmental personnel. Ability to interpret and explain policies to students, parents, faculty, and staff. Attention to detail and the highest standard of integrity are imperative. Excellent computer, creative problem-solving, written and communication skills are essential. Must have the unique ability to deal with people calmly, confidently and with complete objectivity. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Knowledge of university academic programs and policies. Knowledge of principles and practices of academic program planning, development, and evaluation. Experience with Microsoft Office programs. Basic office experience including filing practices. Experience must be related to the duties of the position, i.e., Communication, computer skills, and policy knowledge. Sensitivity in handling access to sensitive data.

Anticipated Salary Range
Starting at $44,056, commensurate with education and experience.
