We are seeking a detail-oriented
Quality Engineer
to join our precision machine shop team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality control and process improvement within a CNC machining or manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring that all machined components meet customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement in quality processes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and inspection processes for machined components.
Interpret and apply engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications to verify product compliance.
Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and maintain inspection documentation.
Utilize precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM) to inspect parts and assemblies.
Investigate and resolve non-conformance issues through root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and leadership to implement process improvements and reduce defects.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 (and AS9100, ISO 13485 if applicable) quality management systems.
Develop and maintain quality documentation, including inspection plans, control plans, and process capability studies.
Support internal and external audits.
Train and mentor shop personnel on quality standards and inspection techniques.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in quality engineering or quality assurance in a CNC machining/manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and metrology principles.
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and CMM programming/operation.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems; experience with AS9100 or ISO 13485 .
Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with quality management software a plus.
Attributes

Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
