SUMMARY WHAT WE DO We prepare surgical instruments and devices. That means we clean, inspect, test, sterilize, store and deliver devices needed for surgery in a healthcare facility. Because of the work we do, surgeons can operate safely on patients in our communities. We anticipate the needs of our customers. Departments throughout the healthcare facility from the Operating Room to outpatient clinics, depend on the surgical instruments and devices we prepare. These departments rely on our precision, our attention to detail, and our layered skills and knowledge related to surgical instrumentation. HOW WE PARTNER & LEARN We collaborate with our vendor partners and the medical teams throughout our facilities to ensure instruments are available when they are needed. The patient always comes first and they deserve the care and attention we give to the safety of the instruments used on them. We lead by example and believe that the process of learning to be a Sterile Processing technician will never be something we can simply check off our list. The rules change, best practices change, technology changes - Continuing education is an essential part of our professional development because it promotes and encourages quality and safety in the face of the constant evolution. Job Information: Job Status: Fulltime - 80hours per pay period Shift: 3pm-11:30pm, Monday-Friday, Rotating weekends/holidays. Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Pay Range: $20.33 - $30.50/hr. POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE No direct patient care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. 1. Inspects and assembles surgical instruments, equipment, trays and packs. 2. Fills surgery case carts from predetermined listings; may deliver case carts to surgical floor. 3. Identifies and reports supply, equipment, and procedure problems. 4. Assists in the orientation and continuing education of lower-level Sterile Processing Technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration and effective communication within the department. 5. Maintains established departmental standards by adhering to policies and procedures, contributing to quality assurance initiatives. 6. Render used items clean and decontaminated manually or mechanically by following established policies and procedures in the decontamination area for instruments, supplies, carts and equipment. 7. Participates in achieving departmental sterilization objectives by following policies and procedures related to assembly, inspection, sterilization, storage, and proper handling of instrument trays, supplies, and equipment. 8. Develops and maintains expert knowledge of surgical service, sterile process, or instrument classification. 9. Collaborates with other Sterile Processing Departments within the organization to address staffing challenges.

Developmental, standard, or intermediate level. Guidelines are generally numerous, well established, and directly applicable to the work assignment. Work assignment and desired results are explained by general oral or written instructions. Complexity:
Falls between the entry and full performance/senior level. Duties assigned are generally repetitive and restricted in scope but may be of substantial intricacy. Employee primarily applies standardized practices. Decision Making:
Decisions or recommendations on non-standardized situations are limited to relating organizational policies to specific cases. Brings non routine issues to supervisor. Problems that are not covered by guidelines or that are without precedent are taken up with the supervisor. Communications:
Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, gathered, or presented and some degree of discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function. Supervision Received
: Under normal supervision, within a standardized work situation, the employee performs duties common to the line of work without close supervision or detailed instruction. Work product is subject to continual review. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education:
High School or GED Experience:
1-year related experience Certification(s):
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
