Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) and Salt Lake Technical College (SLTech) are seeking a dynamic and student-centered faculty member to deliver classroom and lab instruction in a
competency-based, open-entry
environment. The position focuses on preparing students for industry certifications and meaningful employment through high-impact, hands-on learning in subject areas including
desktop support, networking, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, scripting, and Linux .
Faculty members are expected to be
reflective practitioners , actively engaged in instructional innovation, curriculum development, student advising, and community and industry engagement. This position involves
collaboration, leadership, and service
across the college and broader community to ensure students succeed in a diverse and evolving technical landscape. Priority Review Date: October 15, 2025 Applications received by this date will have first consideration. Selected finalist will be required to participate in a teaching demonstration and will be asked to provide recommendation letters. SLCC HR Dept will conduct criminal background check on the selected finalist. *Official Transcripts from the selected finalist are required before offering employment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities Teaching & Instruction Deliver effective, hands-on instruction in a competency-based format across a range of IT subjects. Integrate active and applied learning techniques to engage students. Provide timely, constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and outcomes. Utilize appropriate instructional technologies and platforms. Maintain a regular campus presence, respond to students weekly, and work with students to learn concepts in a computer lab environment. Curriculum & Assessment
Develop, revise, and maintain curriculum aligned with industry standards and certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS). Ensure alignment with department Course Curriculum Outlines (CCOs) and learning outcomes. Participate in college-wide learning assessment initiatives and ongoing program evaluations. Supervise internships or clinical experiences as assigned. Student Support & Advising
Foster a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment. Serve as a mentor and academic advisor, guiding students through pathways to certification and employment. Track and report student outcomes, including academic progress and job placement data. Professional Development & Industry Engagement
Maintain current knowledge in technical fields and teaching practices. Participate in professional associations and activities (e.g., conferences, certification renewals). Serve as a subject matter expert and liaison to community partners and employers. College & Community Service
Attend and contribute to department, school, and college-wide committees and initiatives. Support college recruitment, retention, and outreach efforts (e.g., Majors Fairs, industry events). Participate in strategic planning, budgeting processes, and curriculum advisory boards. Promote and model the values, mission, and goals of the College. Expectations for Service to the College Provide service to the institution through appropriate participation in academic and college committee assignments and departmental and college need. Tenured faculty serve on tenure sitting committees for colleagues; provide leadership and instructional integrity through classroom observation and mentoring. Experienced SLTech full-time faculty will support new faculty members as they transition from their industry roles and grow and develop as educators. Work with the department to review and recommend program textbooks and/or materials. Engage in the student advising process, formally and/or informally as needed. Develop and/or participate in student recruitment and/or retention strategies. Assist with the assessment of credit for prior learning as needed. Participate in the formulation and implementation of department initiatives. Mentor and provide formative feedback to adjunct faculty. Serve community partners as content area experts as appropriate. Maintain inventory, if appropriate, of equipment, tools, supplies, and storage/ disposal of hazardous materials required for classes and request appropriate equipment repair. Improve and update equipment and systems to reflect current industry Activities/Standards/Trends/Technology. Actively participate with your department in the informed budget process by identifying budgetary needs, priorities, and opportunities to reduce or reallocate existing funds. Other activities as needed for the department, school, or institution. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, culture, ethnic background, and abilities, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences. Minimum qualifications Minimum Qualifications Associate degree or higher in a related IT field. Relevant and current industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, Linux, AWS). Minimum of 3 years recent industry and/or teaching experience in information technology. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline. Certifications such as CCAI, MCT, CTT+, or other vendor-recognized credentials. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python). Experience with virtualization and cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS).
