Join a dedicated healthcare team as an Ambulatory Patient Transporter, where your role is vital in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients, wheelchairs, stretchers, and traction equipment between nursing units and ancillary departments. You will be responsible for using transport equipment correctly while adhering to safety protocols, as well as cleaning, repairing, and maintaining equipment to ensure operability.
Education:
Must meet and maintain healthcare transporter requirements, including CPR certification for Healthcare Providers and training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI), Restraints, Seclusion, and Safety devices.
Experience:
At least one year of experience in patient transportation services is preferred, ideally within a hospital setting.
Requirements:
Ability to identify, understand, and regulate flow meters on E-Cylinders; proficient in discharging/transferring patients and maneuvering wheelchairs and stretchers, including post-mortem transport. Some heavy lifting and the ability to assume awkward positions are necessary. Strong customer service skills, problem-solving abilities, organizational skills, flexibility, and interpersonal communication are essential. You will care for a diverse patient population including pediatric, adolescent, adult, bariatric, and geriatric patients.
Competencies related to age-specific physiological, developmental, and spiritual needs must be demonstrated within the probationary period. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending for extended periods, and the ability to move throughout assigned areas and detached buildings. Speech, visual, and auditory acuity are critical for effective communication. The position may involve contact with blood or bodily fluids.
