Join a dedicated healthcare team as an Ambulatory Transporter, responsible for safely and efficiently moving patients, wheelchairs, stretchers, and traction equipment between nursing units and ancillary departments. This role requires proper use and maintenance of transport equipment to ensure safety and operability at all times.
Education:
Must hold current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Experience:
At least one year of experience in patient transportation services is preferred, ideally within a hospital setting.
Requirements:
Ability to meet healthcare transporter standards, including CPR for Healthcare Provider, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training, and knowledge of restraints, seclusion, and safety devices. Must be capable of regulating flow meters on E-Cylinders and managing patient discharges and transfers, including post-mortem transport. Physical demands include some heavy lifting, maneuvering patients of all ages and sizes, and operating transport equipment. Strong customer service, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential. Competency in addressing the physiological, developmental, and spiritual needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, bariatric, and geriatric patients is required.
The position involves mobility throughout the medical center and associated buildings, requiring standing, walking, and bending for extended periods. Communication skills including speech, visual, and auditory acuity are critical. The role may involve exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
Successful candidates will complete mandatory competencies within a 90-day probationary period and demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care and safety.
