Assistant Superintendent for Administration Summary
The Director of Transportation is responsible for the organization, administration, and supervision of the school district's transportation program. This includes ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient student transportation services in compliance with state and federal regulations as well as district policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) Organize and manage the district's student transportation system in accordance with Board of Education policies. Develop and maintain bus routes and schedules for all schools within the district. Recruit, interview, train, and evaluate transportation staff; make recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, transfer, and release. Implement a maintenance plan for activity and transportation vehicles. Prepare and manage the transportation budget; authorize purchases within budgetary and district guidelines. Maintain safety standards in compliance with state regulations and insurance requirements; oversee a preventive safety program. Collaborate with principals and staff in planning special school trips. Assist in addressing and resolving student discipline issues on buses. Analyze transportation needs and recommend future staffing and equipment based on enrollment, distance, and grade-level requirements. Serve as liaison with parents regarding complaints, concerns, and special requests. Complete and submit accident and incident reports as required. Submit all required reports to state and district authorities. Advise the superintendent regarding road hazards and weather-related conditions that may affect school operations. Participate in committee meetings, staff meetings, and professional development as appropriate. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of four (4) years of experience in transportation, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory role. Experience in a school district transportation program preferred. Work Schedule 240 days, 7.5 hours per day Salary Schedule B240
