Description of Work Central Regional Hospital
We are currently recruiting for a Health Care Technician II to function as a Therapeutic Support Specialist II / Mentor at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) on the Community Transition Unit (CTU) A1.
The primary purpose of the Therapeutic Support Specialist II is to mentor the TSS I personnel on CTU A1. The TSS II will also perform all the tasks, duties and responsibilities of lower level TSS (I) as required in patient care. This role functions within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant - all duties are delegated by, and completed under the supervision of a Licensed Registered Nurse. The position will function among varying patient population with varying legal and security status. This position will functions in an environment requiring complex multi-tasking and adjusting to sudden changes in the work environment. Demonstrated flexibility while working with others in a team environment.
The normal working hours for this position are first shift, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday with alternating weekends and holidays as scheduled, however flexibility is required to meet hospital needs. This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. These positions are designated

Knowledge of principles and practices of a certified nursing assistant (including bio-statistical data such as vital signs, lab work and specimen collections). Ability to learn and follow safety measures and identify safety/security risks to patient population (including security of environment and higher levels of observation). Knowledge of patient interactions involving behavioral, physical and medical interventions (within scope). Ability to recognize and report patient needs. Ability to effectively communicate via hand-off to other nursing co-workers and the interdisciplinary team. Ability to learn and follow hospital, unit and nursing policies and procedures. Ability to work with behaviorally difficult patients while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. Ability to Mentor and Role-Model HCT/TSS staff.
