Job Description:

The Louisiana State University Future Scholars (LSUFS) Program, housed in the Office of Pre-College Programs aims to remove barriers to college enrollment while providing the support and resources needed to complete high school and attend and graduate from Louisiana State University. Students that complete the program will be awarded a full tuition scholarship to Louisiana State University.

The Pre-College Program Coordinator will assist with the development and implementation of the LSUFS Program. The Coordinator reports directly to the Pre-College Programs/LSU Future Scholars Program Assistant Director, and the position implements all efforts, programming, and services related to the LSU Future Scholars Program.

This position is also responsible for assisting the Assistant Director in program planning and development, implementation/assessment, reporting, and management. The Coordinator will assist the Assistant Director with hiring staff and developing the LSUFS curriculum for Saturday and summer courses. This position will provide quarterly academic reports to the Assistant Director to measure student academic progress. This position will engage in recruitment of potential students for the LSUFS program and various potential stakeholders in a variety of public settings.

The Coordinator will be required to report to and help carry out the operation, vision, and values of the Office of Enrollment Management & Student Success.

The Office of Pre-College Programs prioritizes the following: Access to support networks, resources, and higher education; Connecting students with mentors (LSU faculty, staff, and students) who can support, guide, and encourage them as they transition from secondary to post-secondary spaces; Helping students explore personal and academic values as well as career goals while engaging in social & civic engagement activities; Educating students and their families about college funding options, the college application process, and transition support; Preparing students to reach their full potential at the flagship. Programming (30%)

Develop and implement comprehensive programming for LSUFS participants

Coordinate summer and academic year programming for LSU Future Scholar site participants consistent with the overall goals and objectives of the program (at school sites and on LSU campus) Facilitate and support LSUFS site participants with networking, mentorship, and college readiness activities Assist the Assistant Director in development of student learning plans and monitoring student progress Assist the Assistant Director with the hiring of summer staff and developing the LSUFS two-week summer college preparation residential program Serves as the contact for the summer college preparation residential program, in the absence of the assistant director This position will be required to live on campus for the duration of the program Assist the Assistant Director with the onboarding and supervision of Saturday and summer programs

Oversee curriculum implementation in alignment with program goals and objectives Co-facilitate monthly Saturday programs Function as a substitute instructor in the absence of instructional and tutoring staff Recruitment of Students (30%)

Collaborate with the LSUFS Assistant Director and school administrators/contacts to plan and coordinate recruitment activities and events

Represents the university and LSUFS to the general public at recruitment events, including high school and college visits, college fairs, visits to schools and community-based organizations, receptions, interviews, information sessions, and presentations which may include lifting materials with a weight of 10 - 15 pounds. Support and foster relationships with the LSUFS Assistant Director, the Office of Enrollment Management and Student Success (EMSS), the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRSS), other LSUFS sites, partners, and other relevant agencies Support the ongoing relationships with relevant LSUFS sites and relevant partners and agencies Assists Assistant Director with creating any necessary deliverables and documents for marketing of the LSUFS Program Evaluation & Management of Student Performance (30%)

Coordinate and support LSUFS program objectives and oversee the success of scholar academic performance

Conduct and evaluate assessments of LSUFS students Meet with students to ensure that they are meeting program requirements Foster a relationship with local school administrators to gather academic records of participating scholars including report cards, IEPS, transcripts, and other student performance metrics Oversee the scholar portal database (SLATE) and quarterly Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) completion to track academic performance of all student participants Provide quarterly academic reports to the Assistant Director to measure student academic progress Other Duties as Assigned (10%)

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Pre-College Programs and direct supervisor. This includes, but not limited to, efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including helping divisional initiatives such as Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Kick Off Events, Destination LSU, Pre-Scholars Academy, other special projects as needed. Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree Experience working with college access in educational settings or community-based organizations, higher education administration, or related fields LSU values skills, experience, and expertise. Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply- a degree is not required as long as the candidate meets the required years of experience specified in the job description. Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in related field or equivalent work experience in education, human/youth development, sociology, social work, public policy, science, math, or related technical field Certification and/or experience in an academic discipline, curriculum development or administration preferred, but not required Experience working in a college admission setting or working with college-bound students, preferably in an admission and counseling environment Our preferred candidate possesses the following qualities:

Excellent organizational, public presentation, written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills and computer literacy Demonstrated commitment to data-driven decision-making, including effective analytical skills and proven results in achieving objectives and goals Knowledge of best practices in pre-college and/or college student transitions and experiences Strong team orientation, effective interpersonal skills, and superior written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to holistically evaluate applications Experience with CRM (Client Relations Management) system and demonstrated ability to leverage technology

Special Qualifications:

Must possess a valid driver's license and background check which includes a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report. Must be willing to travel and work nights/weekends especially during peak periods.

This position and/or position's responsibilities require work directly with minors. National Sex Offender Registry check required.

This position is donor-funded and is therefore contingent upon further availability of funding. Should the gift funding for this position cease to continue, your employment will be subject to immediate termination.

As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency.
