Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry ER Hold position with strong cardiac telemetry skills and weekend shift requirements.

Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital setting in the ED Holds/Telemetry unit Patient population consists of ED holds awaiting inpatient placement, primarily MS/Telemetry cases Nurses manage cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone, and must titrate per physician orders Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4 12-hour night shifts with self-scheduling options, subject to change; 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule Floating required to med/surg, telemetry, overflow units, and sister emergency departments as needed No on-call requirements Uses Cerner EMR system; experience preferred Two-shift orientation provided for Med/Surg/Tele at primary campus Navy scrubs are required RNs will provide care for patients holding in the ED pending unit placement, focusing on cardiac telemetry assessment and monitoring Nurses will assist with ED patients, including vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration, but will not be assigned primary ED patients Unit is supported by ED charge nurses and PCTs No respiratory ventilation equipment is used on this unit Holiday coverage will rotate in with permanent staff RNs are first to float if required Testing requirements include successful completion of sterile technique assessment for Foley catheter and central line dressing changes during orientation Failure of required tests on the second attempt will incur a 6-month ineligibility for CommonSpirit Sacramento region and Arizona positions

Requirements Active RN license, either state-specific or Compact (NLC); pending licenses will not be considered Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted Minimum of 2 years' strong cardiac telemetry nursing experience required Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start with a maximum of two attempts Must pass a pass/fail SIM LAB on first day of orientation Must be able to titrate cardiac drips and decrease drips according to physician's parameters Driver’s license required for consideration Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years Candidates must not have been directly employed by the associated health system (CHI, Dignity, CommonSpirit) within the past year For AZ state, candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
