Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg unit requiring tele experience and strong dysrhythmia skills.
Responsibilities Work in a 32-bed Med/Surg unit in an acute care, Level 1 trauma setting Patient population is 80% surgical and 20% oncology, with frequent orthopedic, urological, abdominal, and women's surgery cases Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 on both days and nights Shifts are 12 hours, 7:00 to 19:00, with four weekend shifts required every four weeks Requires floating to Med/Surg Tele units and potentially to a sister facility Utilizes Cerner EMR and GE Monitors for telemetry; must be able to read strips and titrate Amiodarone and Cardizem down only Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts Central monitoring station tech available, with PCTs on days and 1 PCT or Task RN at night Main responsibilities include providing care for ortho, surgical, oncology, and elective knee/hip replacement patients No ventilator management required Charge nurse present at all times but does not take patients; unit supervisor available Spectralink phones used; no IV team, but SWAT nurse available for difficult sticks RT and pharmacy services are available 24/7 Navy scrubs required First-time travelers are not restricted from applying Must be able to work one major and one minor holiday as assigned Pass/fail on initial dysrhythmia or simulation lab results in a 6-month DNU (Do Not Use) in specified regions if unsuccessful Candidates may not have been employed by CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity within the past year, unless PRN through outside firms
Requirements Active AZ or compact RN license in hand (pending licenses not accepted) Current ACLS and BLS certifications required Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience within the last 6 months Strong telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills required Must pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam within 48 hours of offer, with a maximum of 2 attempts Must pass a sterile technique simulation lab on the first day of orientation Must be able to titrate Amiodarone and Cardizem down only, and float to Tele units as needed Must provide current driver’s license for address verification—cannot live within 50 miles of the facility
