Systems Engineering Team Lead

Our team, the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) team at Lockheed Martin, is dedicated to engineering, developing, and integrating new capabilities for the Missile Defense System that protects the United States and its allies. While we are part of a large organization, we operate within smaller, agile teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Our responsibilities include Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, Automated Testing, Cyber Security, and enhancing critical missile defense technologies. The team lead is the first line of leadership for all Core SE team members and reports to the Regional SE Engineering Manager. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate metrics of team progress, supporting all team staffing responsibilities, including interviewing new candidates, dealing with team performance issues, and supporting team member growth and development. The team lead is also expected to be technically competent in all of the work performed by the team such that they can act as a reviewer of product to ensure quality. They are responsible for defining and ensuring compliance with Core SE team processes. This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration. The role will involve approximately 10% travel to customer sites throughout the U.S. As leaders of the C2BMC team, Lockheed Martin partners with industry leaders to develop and field the backbone of America's missile defense. Our national team supports the design, development, testing, integration, and fielding of hardware and software elements essential for the effective operation of the Missile Defense System (MDS). You will have opportunities to interface directly with key customers, including the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Basic Qualifications: A final secret clearance is required prior to starting Strong System Engineering and Proven Leadership Experience Experience performing system engineering for large complex systems to include requirements analysis and decomposition, Interface definition, root cause analysis, application design, integration, and test Experience managing System Engineers providing mentorship in the discipline Familiarity with agile principles and the ability to work with different teams within an organization Jira experience Desired Skills: Experience working proposals, team building, developing and maintaining metrics, facilitating and providing training, and shaping a culture Being capable of working on site and with teammates from multiple companies and in geographically diverse locations is required Experience developing prototypes and performing experiments strongly desired Modeling and simulation experience desired Experience within the Missile Defense Agency or with Command and Control strongly desired Excellent communication and presentation skills This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location.
