We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused
Performance Test Driver
to join our vehicle testing and development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing structured vehicle evaluations, providing detailed performance feedback, and supporting engineering teams in validating handling, durability, and safety characteristics. The role requires strong driving expertise, professional certifications, and extensive test track experience.
Key Responsibilities Conduct performance, handling, durability, and high-speed evaluations on closed test tracks and proving grounds. Execute standardized driving protocols for acceleration, braking, cornering, stability, NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness), and ride quality assessments. Accurately record vehicle performance data and provide qualitative driver feedback to engineering teams. Collaborate with engineers to identify, reproduce, and troubleshoot vehicle performance issues. Operate data acquisition and telemetry systems during test sessions. Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, track regulations, and OEM testing protocols. Participate in prototype development programs, including pre-production and concept vehicles. Support benchmarking and competitor vehicle testing when required.
Qualifications
Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Professional driving certification(s):
e.g. Certified Test Driver, FIA or equivalent High-Performance Driving License, OEM-specific driver accreditation, or track licensing.
Proven
test track and proving ground experience , including high-speed stability, performance driving, and vehicle limit handling. Familiarity with automotive testing standards (ISO, SAE, NHTSA, Euro NCAP, etc.). Strong technical knowledge of vehicle dynamics and automotive systems. Ability to interpret data from vehicle instrumentation and communicate effectively with engineering staff. Excellent situational awareness, judgment, and safety focus under high-stress conditions.
Preferred Skills
Background in motorsports, advanced driver training, or military/professional driving programs. Experience with data logging systems (e.g., Racelogic VBOX, CANalyzer, or similar). Mechanical or automotive engineering background a plus. Multilingual skills (for global test programs) desirable.
