Applications Engineer - PVT Engineer Body Interior

Position Description:
The Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Body Interior Engineer will provide onsite product development support for the F150 Lightning program.
This role is responsible for driving improved quality and first-time-through performance through root cause analysis, corrective actions (ICA), and preventive actions (PCA).
The engineer will serve as the first line of defense for interior system quality issues, collaborating closely with design, manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
Own and resolve engineering issues related to Body Interior systems (trim, IP, seats, console, headliner, NVH components, carpet, etc.). Provide on-site launch and plant support to troubleshoot production issues and drive First Time Through (FTT) improvements. Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions (ICA/PCA). Perform data analysis using Excel and other tools to identify trends and develop solutions. Support validation testing (DVPR), issue tracking, and release activities. Collaborate with suppliers, design engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust designs and high-quality builds. Support quality systems including DFMEA, PFMEA, and control plans.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; advanced proficiency in Excel. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation). Hands-on experience with automotive interior components, materials, or manufacturing processes. Ability to provide on-site engineering support in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Skills Preferred:
Experience with CAD/PLM tools (CATIA, Teamcenter, WERS). Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, SPC). Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, DMAIC, Shainin). Prior OEM or Tier 1 automotive experience in Body Interior engineering. Exposure to EV-specific challenges (weight management, NVH, thermal). Proficiency with additional data analysis/visualization tools (PowerBI, SQL, Python). Lean or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
