Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a newly opened off-campus ED, requiring a WA or compact RN license and strong ER skills.
Responsibilities Work in an off-campus, 8-10 bed Emergency Department open 24/7 Patient population includes neonates to geriatrics with 25% pediatric cases, walk-in traumas, cardiac, neuro, GI, respiratory, psych, and frequent gunshot wounds Nurses manage ventilators and BiPAP as there are no respiratory therapists on site Patient ratio is typically 1:4; fast track area has 1:6 with RN and NP team Uses Epic for charting, with Alaris and Pyxis equipment 12-hour day shifts with weekend rotation every other week No floating required Six-week scheduling period with three possible shift start times: 0700, 1100, 1300 Nurses are responsible for mixing medications under remote pharmacist supervision and drawing most blood samples Charge responsibilities may be assigned, and training will be provided if needed Support includes charge nurse, ED physician, ER tech, front desk, and some phlebotomy assistance Comprehensive orientation includes hospital orientation, unit-specific training, and 8-hour respiratory class First-time travelers are welcome to apply Holiday scheduling is negotiable Up to 5 days of requested time off is allowed Any color scrubs are acceptable Free parking is available on site
Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required (can be submitted with proof of pending license) At least 2 full years of Emergency Department experience at any trauma level Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, Advanced NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC Strong ER clinical skills including medication administration, management of chest tubes, central lines, and IV access Previous experience and/or willingness to care for intubated patients after onboarding training Ability to complete and pass a traveler telemetry competency prior to start Epic EMR experience preferred
