WHAT WE DO: We focus on providing delivery, staffing, and supported services such as enterprise integration/implementations including, but not limited to, CRM, EAM, ERP, PMO, and QA. We service clients in SLED (state/local gov't & education), financial services, fortune, public utility, as well as regularly partnering with Big 4 SI partners.
We are seeking an experienced
Principal Enterprise Architect
to join our team and provide strategic leadership across enterprise-wide architecture initiatives for our public utility client in Columbus, OH. This is a 6month contract. Reporting to the Head of Architecture, this role partners closely with Application Development, Infrastructure, Security, Data & Analytics, and PMO teams to define and deliver NiSource's technology vision, strategy, and roadmap.
The ideal candidate will bring
10+ years of enterprise architecture experience , with expertise across on-premise and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and the ability to mentor and guide other architects. This position requires deep knowledge of DevSecOps, APIs, cloud transformation, and enterprise-scale IT domains to ensure architecture decisions align with business objectives.
Responsibilities Provide senior-level direction, guidance, and decision-making to align enterprise architecture with business strategy. Translate business requirements into architecture blueprints, high-level solution designs, and capability roadmaps. Partner with business and IT leaders to shape technology investments, balancing risk, cost, and operational impact. Lead architectural governance processes including Architecture Review Boards, Solution Architecture reviews, and exception management. Design, review, and recommend innovative solutions to improve enterprise system architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Drive innovation by researching emerging technologies and applying industry best practices to strengthen enterprise capabilities. Mentor and guide other architects and technical teams across the organization. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. 10+ years
of enterprise-wide architecture experience with strong focus on
cloud and hybrid environments
(Azure, AWS). Proven experience directing and mentoring architects in large-scale organizations. Expertise with on-premise solutions, migrations to cloud platforms, and hybrid architectures. Deep understanding of multiple IT domains, including: Technologies:
Azure Compute, Cisco, Docker, Equinix, Kubernetes, Microsoft solutions, MuleSoft, Palo Alto, ServiceNow, VMWare. Capability Areas:
APIs, Automation, Cloud Services, Compute, Databases, End User Computing, Infrastructure as Code, Logging/Monitoring, Network Segmentation, Runtime Environments, Security, Service Operations, Storage, Unified Communications.
Strong knowledge of
API-first design patterns
and DevSecOps principles. Familiarity with frameworks such as
TOGAF, ITIL , and tools such as
LeanIX . Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong consultative, analytical, and communication skills with proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with application development, systems management, and/or project management. Certifications in cloud platforms or architecture frameworks. Demonstrated ability to lead architectural discussions with C-level executives. Leadership Competencies
