Job Description:
The Program Associate will play a key role in supporting and managing student startup and entrepreneurship-related initiatives within Binghamton University's Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Partnerships (E&IP). The position will primarily focus on programs under the New Energy New York (NENY).
Reporting to the NENY Program Manager, Student Engagement with the office of E&IP. This role will collaborate closely with E&IP staff, program partners, and external stakeholders to recruit participants, coordinate program logistics, track metrics, and ensure smooth operations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working with students, faculty, and partners across academia, industry, and government.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordination Coordinate recruitment efforts in collaboration with marketing staff, partner institutions. Oversee onboarding processes, pre-program communications, and ongoing updates to participants. Assist in the design, scheduling, and execution of the ChargeUp Accelerator, including outreach, application review, onboarding, and program logistics. Support the NENY Student Startup Experience by coordinating workshops, mentoring sessions, and student engagement activities. Help implement the Equity & Justice Program, focusing on outreach to community entrepreneurs, customer discovery training, and inclusion in accelerator activities. Develop working relationships with coalition members and partner institutions to broaden program reach. Participant Engagement
Serve as a primary point of contact for program participants, mentors, and partners. Track participant progress, gather feedback, and provide support to ensure program success. Facilitate connections between entrepreneurs, investors, industry partners, and other ecosystem resources. Track stipend eligibility and process payments for participants, contractors, etc. in coordination with the finance team. Maintain payment logs and receipts for accountability and auditing. Operations & Logistics
Coordinate event logistics, including venue booking, catering, materials, and virtual meeting setup. Support meeting facilitation by scheduling, preparing agendas, recording minutes, and distributing follow-up action items. Maintain program calendars, communications, and documentation. Assist in managing budgets, reimbursements, and vendor relationships. Outreach & Marketing
Support recruitment and marketing efforts for all three programs through social media, newsletters, and community partnerships. Maintain and update program content on the website and other platforms. Data, Resource Management & Reporting
Distribute course/workshop materials and maintain shared folders or resource libraries. Provide basic technical support for participants during virtual sessions. Collect and summarize feedback from post-program surveys. Collect and manage program data for reporting to stakeholders and funders. Assist in preparing program summaries, presentations, and evaluation reports. Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree with minimum 5 years of experience in education, program administration, or a related field or Bachelor's degree with minimum 2 years of full-time experience Experience mentoring or advising students. Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling platforms, and online video conferencing tools. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications:
Technical qualifications in engineering or a related STEM field. Familiarity with virtual and in-person training methods, including e-learning content development and learning management systems. Experience with budget management, financial tracking, and project or program management and tools/software. Knowledge of entrepreneurship, innovation ecosystems, or technology commercialization. Additional Information:
Salary:
$61,000-$65,000 annually. This is a grant funded position, currently supported through December 31, 2026.
