Black & Veatch's Fuels and Natural Resources (F&NR) Team provides services from consulting, design, full engineering, procurement & construction (EPC), and commissioning & start-up for LNG facilities, Floating LNG facilities, gas processing & NGL fractionation, gasification & gas to liquids, hydrogen, and ammonia & fertilizers. Our knowledge, capabilities, and innovation include our proprietary PRICO technologies. This enables our team to assess and choose tailored solutions with greater quality and efficiency for our clients. The value chain spans natural gas, natural gas liquids, midstream, wholesale markets, power generation, and utility segments. As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to: Work as a Technical Expert or Project Lead performing all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis. Support projects encompassing a variety of areas such as Hydrocarbon Processing (HPI), hydrogen, ammonia & fertilizer, FLNG, LNG and new energy. Explore various technologies within the process space to expand your skillset and knowledge. Develop electrical drawing deliverables including: One line and three line diagrams Electrical motor schematics, breaker control schematics and wiring diagrams Power cable sizing and cable schedules Complex engineering calculations such as: load flow, short circuit, motor starting (ETAP or SKM), Arc flash analysis (ETAP or SKM), protective relay settings Develop electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction Create man hour budgets and schedule for projects and proposals Attend on-site meetings, investigate existing conditions, interface with clients and provide support during construction Extensively use Microsoft Office business systems such as ProjectWise, electrical engineering software, such as ETAP and Computer Aided Drafting Tools, such as AutoCAD to view and manipulate engineering drawing files If you want to grow and further develop your technical skills in the Gas, Fuels and Chemicals (GFC) industry alongside our most talented engineering professionals and clients - this is an excellent opportunity for you! Although project experience in gas, fuels and chemicals (GFC) is preferred, we are interested and excited to consider candidates with any Power Generation Facility design experience (i.e. Power Plants, Nuclear Plants, Hydrogen Facilities, etc.). The selected candidate must be located or willing to relocate to our World Headquarters location in Overland Park, KS (Kansas City), or one of our Flagship Offices in Houston, TX or Raleigh, NC. Key responsibilities include providing guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies; ensuring compliance with B&V quality program; preparing complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects; managing assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements; actively coordinating with all other internal/external team members on complex projects; determining identification of key client interests and drivers on projects; working to identify future client needs and how to better position B&V for the future; serving as the technical specialist in a broad area of specialization; overseeing performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions; supervising work of others; and responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates. Management responsibilities include supervising work of others. Preferred qualifications include Oil & Gas project experience, constributing as a design engineer; Project Lead experience and SME in various Oil & Gas Projects such as: LNG, FLNG, hydrogen, ammonia & fertilizers; Dealing with Ambiguity and Building Effective Teams; Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline; Petrochemical and or Process Industry experience; Working knowledge of the NEC (NFPA 70 National Electrical Code); Experience with Hazardous Area Classifications as defined by the NEC and API; Experience with ETAP or SKM Electrical system analysis modeling software; Experience with industrial power distribution system designs including MV and LV switchgear, MCC's, VFD's, power distribution transformers, batteries and UPS; and Experience with protective relay settings and equipment sizing calculations associated with power distribution equipment. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing or equivalent experience in engineering work; Minimum of 11 years related work experience; and Active Engineering Registration or Licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary.
