Job Description Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Duration: 18 weeks Shift: Part Time, Day/Night rotations Hours per Shift: 12 hours (2 shifts per week + 2 on-call shifts in 4 weeks) Experience: Two years of acute hospital experience as a Registered Nurse, one year of Emergency Department experience as a Registered Nurse License: Current Registered Nurse Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI)

Must-Have: - Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year in an Emergency Department environment

Description: The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, and provides direct care collaboratively. He or she applies appropriate interventions and evaluates patient progress. The ED RN demonstrates skill in using various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations. The ED RN utilizes principles of relationship-based care to alleviate anxiety, provide information, and address pain, discomfort, and safety. He or she assesses physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients of all age groups and their families. The RN connects with patients and families during triage, identifying initial management and assigning priority of care according to Triage Standards. He or she establishes rapport, addresses comfort needs, listens carefully, and provides frequent updates. The RN conducts primary assessments of critical needs, detects deviations from norms, and identifies necessary steps and interventions. He or she uses direct observation, interviews, and data to conduct secondary assessments. The RN identifies contributing factors and reassesses patients to identify responses to treatment or changes in condition. The RN encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. He or she teaches others and delegates tasks in line with individual education and training. The RN safeguards public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies. He or she prepares patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments, making appropriate referrals for post-emergency care. The RN assesses learning styles and structures education sessions to maximize understanding. He or she seeks to understand what is most important to patients and families, acknowledging their central role in care. The RN maintains awareness of patient conditions throughout the visit and updates communication boards as necessary.
